The Fund Raising is starting, and we'd like to kick off the global charity drive by spreading a little love in Vietnam (we thought it best not to blow all the funds at once). Read below and vote for how we should spend some of the charity fund:

The Day of Overtipping
What is it? Tipping is not particularly common in many parts of the world. In fact, there are many places where people are just happy enough to get paid. What we will do for a day is get the most pointless tasks performed and tip outlandishly for it (aiming for a tip of 5 times the cost of the service). We'll buy 50 cents street food and slam a $10 bill in their hands; we'll have our shoes polished and pull out a $20.
How will it help? Money to the poor always gets spent, which in turn means that our money will be spent again, and then again, ensuring that communities benefit a little from that cash circulating the local economy.
Potential disaster? Low risk, but next time you're asked for a $20 tip from a shoe polisher, you know which people taught him Westerners tip like that!
Estimated cost? US$50 depending on what services we find…

The Beggars Banquet
What is it? We will find a minimum of two down on their luck individuals and treat them to a meal fit for a king.
How will it help? Why is charity always about solving the world's problems? Why can't it sometimes just be about making someone feel special for a day. I'm sure our guests will feel good about it and perhaps give them something to talk about for a few weeks. It also helps a direct connection between Westerners and people from other countries.
Potential disaster? One or more of our guests choke to death and we're detained indefinitely on charges of manslaughter.
Estimated cost? It really depends on food prices, but we think it could be done for around US$30.
